Bolt

Available for adoption: Bolt is a very handsome 6-month-old, male-neutered, Siberian Husky.  He's about 45 lbs right now, but still growing. Bolt came to us after having been hit by a car with a broken right forelimb (both radius and ulna).  His owner couldn’t afford treatment, so rather than put an otherwise healthy puppy to sleep, she agreed to surrender him to us so we could try to not only heal his leg, but also find him a new home.

Bolt is an extremely energetic and loving dog.  He gets along with other dogs, but needs training to interact well with cats, as he has a tendency to chase them.  He needs a home with a suitable fence and lots of exercise!  He also needs a patient owner that will potty train him – he is very motivated by treats!  He has accidents in his kennel due to our staff only being at the clinic from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. His fractures have healed thanks to 4 weeks of splint bandaging; however,  he does have a mild right radiocarpal joint luxation (dislocated wrist) that may require joint supplements and potentially future treatments (daily medications, etc.) as he will likely be predisposed to arthritis in that joint.

So far, Bolt’s veterinary care has cost over $1,400, so we are asking for a modest contribution to his care as his adoption fee. He is up-to-date on Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, Rabies, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza Virus vaccinations, and 1 free dose of Simparica Trio (flea/heartworm/tick/roundworm/hookworm preventive) would be provided upon adoption.

Godfrey

Available for adoption: Godfrey is the perfect “Fetch” partner!  He knows how to play fetch and sit! He is an 8-year/old, male-neutered Black Lab Mix. Godfrey is the sweetest, bestest boy! He came to us because he was routinely escaping from his owner’s fenced-in yard (digging) within the city limits of Harrodsburg, despite his owner’s best efforts. Therefore, a more rural setting with enough land to run or even an underground electric fence would be ideal for Godfrey.  He does very well with twice daily Trazodone (anti-anxiety medication). He has a growth on his chest that has already been diagnosed as a benign lipoma via fine needle aspirate/cytology here at our clinic.   He can be picky about his dog-friends, so a trial period would be needed for homes with other dogs.

Godfrey is 60lbs.

If you or someone you know would be interested in adopting this sweet boy, feel free to call our clinic at (859) 734-2245 or email at [email protected].

Oscar

Available for adoption: Oscar is a special needs dog that will steal your heart and keep you laughing with his antics!  He gets very excited when you do “finger-guns”!  He is paralyzed in his back legs, so he needs someone to manually express his bladder on a regular basis.  He is an approximately 5-year-old, male-neutered Shih Tzu, weighing in at 16lbs.  This boy has no qualms about not being able to use his back end!  He doesn’t know he’s paralyzed!  Oscar is a sweet, cuddly boy that just needs a little help going to the bathroom.   He is on daily medication to prevent bladder infections, and allergy medication.  He also receives a prescription urinary diet.  He will need a dedicated owner that is willing to manage his health conditions and continue to provide his medications and prescription diet.  Also, he is a Shih Tzu, so he will need regular grooming.

If interested in adopting Oscar, please fill out our adoption application below or download a copy and email it to us at [email protected] or drop it by the clinic. Thank you!
